Raised Pinay

I am so grateful that this writers group and devised theater piece crossed my path, starting late 2022. I am part of the 5th generation of Raised Pinay, which focused on Filipina (Pinay) motherhood; so, people who grew up Pinay and are raising Pinay or Pinoy children. We explored colonial trauma in and disconnection from the body; our children as a guide toward healing; looking at what our ancestors passed down to us; and eroticism, grief and joy as part of the mother experience. We devised a theater piece in Spring 2023 and performed at El Puente, a community human rights institution in Brooklyn.
